I stopped bleeding at about 6-7 weeks. I wasn’t even a bleed in the end, just lighter and lighter discharge. But yes, it’s quite normal, don’t panic. However, if it’s heavy like you say, go ahead and call your doctor, it doesn’t hurt to ask!

Same story with me…I stopped bleeding around 4 weeks then we had sex and I started again for a few more days…I think my baby was about 5 and a half weeks when I finally stopped completely.

Tell your health visitor if you’re still bleeding when baby is 6 weeks.

    Congratulations! x

I bled right up to 8 weeks when i started taking the pill its different in most people to be honest aslong as it doesnt suddenly become bright red or have large clots of dark blood (small ones are normal) or become very smelly.
I bled like a heavy period until about a week before i started taking the pill then it was more like brown dischargy stuff :D
If your breast feeding it will go on for longer too and then when it stops you might not get a period until you stop breastfeeding :)

Hey sweetie – I’m over 8 weeks and still bleeding but I FINALLY think it is slowing down. My situation is different though (as you know!) and I had to have a D&C etc – so not sure if my answers are helping you! I’m also on hormone tablets to help stop the bleeding.

By the way though, the saying goes (and works for me) that if you do too much (exercising, walking, sex etc) and you start to bleed again – it means you are doing TOO much and means your body hasn’t finished healing after birth. Exactly what happened to me. I tried to start walking and doing squats and as I did the blood pretty much fell out of me. Sounds like the same with you and sex sweetie so take it easy!

They say you should bleed up to 6 weeks though. So DEFNITELY bring it up at your 6 week check when you get it. With me my bleeding had gotten worse by 6 weeks and that is why the ultrasound checks and procedures and such afterwards.

Good luck girlie and maybe hold off having sex until your 6 week check up just in case! X

I’m 3 weeks post partum and have very little bleeding if at all. I still wear pads though because I can’t control my bladder totally just yet. I will just have discharge some days then other days I will notice a tad bit of blood on the pad. So it’s not totally gone, but it’s been very light for a couple of weeks now. I hear it can last for 6 weeks or more though. If you are concerned, ask your doctor at your 6 week appt or call.
