I went to Walmart and got a package of Use and Toss spoons, they are inexpensive and if something happens to them you can throw them out. I wash and reuse them. They also have use and toss bowls, cups and forks. Very inexpensive, and can be reused.

Walmart is my fave place but I like target too.

Get the spoons that change color if the food’s too hot if you plan to heat the food. If you don’t then just make sure the spoons are covered in that rubber stuff to protect his/her gums.

Start with baby cereal at night before bedtime.

After move to yellow/orange veggies(but not corn)
    Then the green veggies
    Then go to fruits.

Use the same kind for 2-3 days in a row to ensure there is no allergic reaction. It makes it easier to figure out what caused the reaction if there is one.

    That’s pretty much it….

Be careful with the use and toss stuff… The FDA is working on banning a chemical in plastic that causes health problems. Canada started banning it already and pulled all plastic baby products first because babies are more susceptible to illness.

Well, I made my own babyfood for my son with the exception of cereal.

    You’ll need
    Spoons
    Bibs
Bowls (plastic ones that have suction on the bottom to stop them being picked up and flown round the room)
A plastic mat for under a highchair
    A highchair
    Small Tupperware containers
    A hand blender
A steamer (or a pot with a steamer insert)

    I then made him
    Cereal with milk
    Applesauce (steamed apples, pureed)
    Pears (steamed and pureed)
Plums, peaches, nectarines, etc., (steamed and pureed)
    Sweet potato (baked and mashed)
Bananas (just mashed with a fork or spoon)
    Oatmeal
    Cottage cheese

The fruits (except bananas) I would make big batches of and put them in loads of labelled containers. No preservatives, and I’d just freeze them.

Hope that helps with some ideas!

We bought our baby spoons from Walmart, along with some really cute bowls. Of course, the spoons never really got used since we decided to do baby led weaning instead, but the bowls are great!

I found it was so much easier to let our baby feed himself when he was ready for solids instead of trying to spoon feed him rice cereal and jarred foods that he didn’t like and didn’t want. Life was so much easier when we stopped at let him actually eat.

I found it really useful to have some small tupperware containers full of ‘safe’ foods in the fridge. I bought the 1 cup sized, and they were a bit big, but worked well. I keep them full of fruit pieces, veggies, and pasta that we could use as snacks, and to add to our family meals to make them healthier for our baby to eat. There’s no way I eat veggies as much as I should.

I also found that vinyl bibs are really useful. I could just wipe it down after he ate instead of having to put it in the wash. A cheap plastic table cloth is also nice (but you can use towels as well) to put under his chair while he was eating to protect the floor from all of the spills.

Ebay is a good site to buy weaning stuff but go for the new items not the used ones .
