Accupuncture has many benefits for releasing natural anesthetic into the system..but as with many other formsof therapy…constant and routine treatment is needed to feel the full benefit!
If your pressure or pin points ( known as Tsubos) are blocked up or out of sync with your chakra and energy or meridian system…this can be a painful start to treament until they level out!
There are contraindications though, but if your midwife is trained then she should know this!

Is it just to make your body prepare for labour rather than go into labour? You should ask her…

I believe that accupuncture will only really work if your body is ready, or it will encourage your body to naturally ‘ripen’. I doubt very much it will put you into early labour. You must have a great midwife, I’d have loved it if mine were more open to accupuncture!
Best of luck x

Talk to your GP or someone who specialises in accupuncture or even better both. Your body should decide when it’s ready to give birth & unless there is a medical reason, you should’nt really interfer with something so natural or put your baby at risk! Good luck with the birth!!!
