They’re annoying and horrible. When my son was 3 weeks old, his broke and the battery part dropped on his head! He was fine, other than a bump but I was upset and put it away forever.
Sound and light shows are better…

When he was about 6 months, I discovered this CD: http://www.sleepytimelullabies.co.uk/ We play it at all nap times and bedtime and he falls asleep no trouble. It’s really beautiful music/singing too (unlike most lullaby CDs) and never tired of it!
