my daughter screamed for food at 4 months milk just didn’t satisfy her I started her on powder form from 16 weeks once a day and just didn’t tell my health visitor, the fact you already have a child go with your instinct if you think he needs it give it if hes happy wait a bit. your call.

I started weaning my baby onto solids when he was 5 months old. I agree with the theory that some babies are ready for it sooner than others. They do recommend leaving it as close to 6 months as possible, but they also say that anything from 4 months and up is fine Listen to your baby – if he’s fine on milk just now, leave it at that. When he starts to be still hungry after a feed, maybe think about starting to wean?

Like you when my son was born you were recommended to start weaning at 10/12 weeks.

In fact I started with a tiny 1/4 to 1/2 a teaspoon of powdered baby rice mixed with a little formula milk at 8 wks before his morning feed as he was hungry and beginning to change from a contented little baby to being unsettled and not sleeping well. He loved it and within two wks he was taking a small amount of spoon feed before each bottle.

I agree with previous response – you have experience and know your own baby.

I started cereal at 3 months and then solids at 6 months. It just was the matter of how hungry he was. He showed all the signs that he was ready.
