Q&A: How much weight can i expect to lose naturally after i have my baby?
Question by Lee Lee: How significantly weight can i anticipate to drop naturally soon after i have my child?
Clearly i can anticipate 7lbs or so for the child but what about fluid retention, placenta weight and so on in the initially couple of days?

I weighed eight stone prior to I got pregnant, 3 days before she was born I weighed ten stone, and a week after she was born I was 8stoneಊlbs again. So I reckon about a stone or so. If you wanna lose the weight rapidly, breast feed, I was consuming all the time and barely moving and still losing weight! Was back to my pre pregnancy weight just underneath three months right after.

It really depends on the person, I lost about 15 lbs right away but since then I haven’t lost anything at all and it’s been nearly a year and I’m very active. It really depends on your metabolism and body fat content.

everybody is different but I would say that based on my wifes experience you will lose about 7-10lbs once you have had your baby. The rest of the extra can be lost at a slow pace in the weeks after the birth, breastfeeding can assist weight loss but the main thing is that you look after yourself. Eat 3 healthy meals a day and make sure that you drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Theres alot of pressure for new mums to lose weight in record time after a baby but the most important thing is that your fit and healthy so that you can be fit and well enough to be a great mum. The weight will come off just give it time. good luck

It just depends if you breastfeed you loose weight faster. If you had a c-section it will be a bit harder cuz you have to take it easy for i think 8 weeks. ( not sure how long on the 1) But do excerises when the baby is sleeping it will help you get back into shape faster and loose weight rather than people not doing anything after having a baby and not loosing weight. So i hope this helps you.

Everyone is different and every pregnancy you have will be different to how much weight you gain and loss. With my last child, I gained 32lbs. The very next day I had this little 6lb baby, I had lost 17lbs! It has been 17months now and I have lost a total of 55lbs…so I lost all my weight and then some. But that didn’t happen with my pregnancy 21months before that. I had only lost my pregnancy weight and no more than that. It had taken me 1yr to do that. I think it all depends on each person and even your age. When I was much younger and had my son, I had lost all my pregnancy weight within a few months. I think if you stick with a healthy diet and also depends if you breastfeed or not. Breastfeeding burns alot more calories and slims your waistline alot quicker. But, take more calories to consume to keep the breast milk producing. You will find your system that will work for you. Congrats on your little bundle.

after i had my baby i lost about 15 lbs. but i still looked like i was about 6 months pregnant. over the past three months, i have maybe lost about 10 more lbs with about 5 or 10 to go until i can wear all of my prepregnancy clothes. they usually say it takes nine months to put it on, and it will take nine months to lose it.

It depends upon how much weight you gained during the pregnancy, if you are breast feeding, and how much fluid your body retains.
I gained 50lbs with my first pregnacy, and I retained lots of fluids. Right after giving birth, I’d lost about 10 of those pounds. With nursing and drinking lots of water, I lost another 20 lbs within the next month. However, it took me almost a year and a half to lose just those last 20 lbs – and that was with me working out 5-6 days a week.

During my pregnancy i only put on 15lb because i was quite sick, After having the baby i lost all this weight by the time i first weighed myself when baby was 1 week old. But you have to expect your body to change, even though my weight came off quick my body is not what it was! To answer your question…….
During pregnancy the extra weight comes from-
• At birth, your baby will weigh approximately 3,300g (7.3lb).
• During pregnancy, the muscle layer of your womb (uterus) grows dramatically and weighs an extra 900g (2lb).
• The placenta (afterbirth), which keeps your baby nourished, weighs 600g (1.3lb).
• Your breasts weigh an extra 400g (0.9lb).
• Your blood volume increases and weighs an extra 1,200g (2.6lb)
• You have extra fluid in your body, and amniotic fluid around the baby, weighing 2,600g (5.7lb).
• Plus, you will lay down some fat during your pregnancy to provide you with extra energy for breastfeeding. This comes to about 2,500g (5.5lb).
So, by the end of pregnancy you will weigh about 11,000g (24.2lb) more than you did before you became pregnant.
This is an average weight gain but of course, you’re not an average woman. And no woman is. The amount of weight you should gain will depend on how heavy you were before you became pregnant. So after having your baby you will automatically lose some of this. Breastfeeding is a good way to lose the weight.

Everyone is different. No one can tell you for sure. Be sure to note that even if you loose all of your baby weight quickly, you must be careful not to then starting gaining like never before at a rapid pace because of nursing, appetite and those craaazy hormones. This happened with my 1st child 14 years ago and now, with my 4 month old. I lost all 32 pounds within one week of my first babies birth. I lost 37 pounds within one week of my 4 month olds birth. But I’ve gained 8 back and forth. I’m going to try to make sure that doesn’t happen. I gained 32 with my 1st and 39 with my second. You may retain fluids for the first 3 weeks while things are coming back together again. Be patient with yourself and be sure to sit back and marvel at the wonders of the female human body! Congratulations and Blessings to your new little one!

I weighed 113lbs before I got pregnant, I gained 40 lbs when I was pregnant, I had to have a c-section so it takes longer to lose the weight, I dont know exactly how much I lost right after I had her but it took me almost 6 months to get back to a size 3, and now I weigh 103lbs and wear a size 1 and 0′s. Its different for everyone I guess.

I gained eighty pounds during my pregnancy!!-went from 120 to 200. I think a lot of it was water. At my six week checkup I was already down to 160 and now six months postpartum I am still 160 despite breasfeeding. I am just now starting to exercise because I hurt to bad until just recently..i had a very very rough vaginal delivery.

losing weight is the last thing you wil think about when the baby is born. you will be doing that much running about, the weight will come off without you really trying. x
