Birth defects, really good at playing banjo.

Most of the profound genetic conditions are caused by a double recessive. If you have the recessive, and conceive by a close relation, the chances of one of the many conditions out there occuring is greatly increased.

edit: Down Syndrome is caused by a trisomy, and is not related to incest.

down syndrome and other weird and messed up problems like mental retardation and disformed body parts

the baby can have alot of disabilitys aswell as abnormalitys but can be ok,personally i wouldnt like a baby from my father no way.x

  5. rwj920 Says:

There is a greater chance of passing down genetic deformities due to the genes of the parents being similar. The baby could have died from a number of illnesses that were passed down to him/her.

Just because a baby is born due to incest doesn’t mean it will automatically have deformities, just that the chance is greatly increased.

Basically we have 2 sets of genes, and a baby will inherit one of these sets from each parent.

Now, we might have one gene that says ‘ you will get disease X’ but a stronger gene that says ‘ you will resist disease X’. So ultimately, you will be able to resist this disease.

However, if you have a baby with someone with the same set of genes as you, then there is a high chance that the baby will have 2 genes saying ‘you will get disease X’ and no gene to resist it.

If you get a partner from another family, then it is very unlikely that he / she will have this bad gene (he/she may have another bad gene, but your good gene will counteract it). But within a family, the risks are much higher for this genetic reason.

NB haemophilia is such a disease, and incest in royal families in Russia caused its propensity (ooer posh vocab) in Russian Royal families.

The main problem has to do with the ressessive genes being made dominant in a stronger strain. It’s kinda what happens when you used to have a lot of water but the more juice you have the less water &it’s thicker &all dat.Mainly, they have physical deformities like blindness, limb deformities, Down’s syndrome etc.

I agree with the genetic basis (recessive genes) as expressed by “LabGrrl” & “wizard bob”.
I have to add that such a child would have a weaker immune system as well, because HLA variability within the same family is somewhat more limited.

Good question, not to sure the baby died because of incest, but the village idiot came from rural family’s producing children from the same family stock, eg fathers and daughter’s, mothers and sons, brothers and sisters, with all the interbreeding, how can you get healthy genetic stock! Even animal’s generally will not breed with its own family, they seem to know its not good for strong healthy offspring. Just a foot note, Fred and Rose West came from incestuous family backgrounds, and they went on to sexually abuse there own offspring, the rest I’m sure you know.

there r no proven complications but it would lead 2 decreased genetic diversity and cause gentic depression due to increased genetic expression of reccessive genes. dat would in its turn lead 2 reduced levels of health , fitness and fertility in d child.
d physical and health defects exhibited may be:
    1.fluctuating facial assymetry
    2.slow growth rate
    3. increased chance of infant mortality
    4.small physical size
5.loss of immune system functionality and strength

incest would lead to above scenarios only if d parties involved are genetically related.

    incest
when an embryo is made with the same genetic pool there are too many of the same genes for it to be born successfully or if it does get born then it will have abnormalities

even first cousins there is a problem as the genes are too similar

this is why the pharohs died out
    as they kept interbreeding
