I used a teething glove from babies are us it has to finger pockets like a glove for your fingers and its textured for you baby to chew on. you can also wet it and put it in the fridge to cool.
It might just be that he is finding his hands!

Usually they start to cry more often because of the pain. Also it may seem as if they are chewing on their fingers or other objects. And if you had had a lot of calcium during your pregnancy, then the baby’s teeth will appear sooner.

It is not uncommon – believe it or not – for the first sign of teething to be a sore bottom. All my sons had this. It is the result of a change in the chemistry of the baby’s saliva.
But, simplest of all, put the tip of your ( very clean) little finger in the baby’s mouth and feel around the gum for a sharp point.
That’s a tooth.

He’s teething. I have no idea what a bonjela is though.
My son never took to teething toys. He seemed to like chewing on a cold washcloth with a knot in the middle of it. I would keep it in the fridge for him and wash it out every day so it was clean. The teething tablets work well (dissolve in their mouth to numb their sore gums). When he’s a little older a small drop of peppermint oil on a qtip applied to the sore gums works great too- but you need a very sparing amount since it will go along way and peppermint can be strong.
Signs of teething:
excessive drooling
chewing on objects, including hands or fingers
tugging at ears or face
seems fussier than usual
You can feel with your finger on his gums and if it feels like he has a little bump like a mosquito bite on his gums in the front he’s got a tooth trying to push through. Most kids get the bottom two first, then the top two so I’d check the bottom front gums first. Get a gum cleanser (orajel makes one for infants and it comes with the tool and gel that is safe for them to swallow) to keep his gums clean. It’s important especially now that he’s teething.
One thing my sons pediatrician did tell me is that fever, diarreah and rashes are NOT teething symptoms.. They are viral symptoms and you should call your doctor if any of those develop to have it checked. The doctor also told me that these are common misconceptions about teething and that they are in no way related to the teething process.
