What can the baby touch and see in the womb?

Question by Fluffy: What can the child touch and see in the womb?
Is there anything else the child can grab onto other than the umbilical cord and swallowing amniotic fluid. Just wondered if theres anything else or is it quite empty? What else can it touch and see?

Apparently babies in the womb touch their very own faces fairly a lot, especially their mouths. As far as what they can see, its quite dark in there! As soon as you get into the third trimester they can begin to distinguish light from dark, and may possibly respond by moving away if you shine a vivid torch next to your bump, but there isn’t much else for them to see.
