What colour hair is my baby most likely to have?
Question by Fluffy: What colour hair is my baby most likely to have?
Just curious I guess.
My parents and sisters all have dark hair and usually have.
When I was a kid my hair was blonde, then it went ginger, and then to a dark brown over the years.
The babies Daddy had brilliant blonde hair as a youngster and turnt to a light ginger as he grew older. His mum had blonde hair (not positive about his father)
So what colour hair would my baby most likely to have?

that depends on the parents genotype. which means that when the father have genes of Xx and the mum Xx then the baby will get what both of you have. If father XX and mum Xx the baby will likely get father’s type. If mum XX, then the baby follow mum.

wow we have almost the same genetic makeup as I too had blonde hair when i was younger which turned to a golden brown with brunette parents and my boyfriend is a blonde/light ginger color. i had made the guess for myself that my child will have fair skin and hair, as we both have blue eyes and blue eyes stick pretty much to fair skin and blonde hair as a child. most blondes get darker as they age. I woulod guess your child will be fair-haired at birth either blonde or red head.. which could get darker as they grow like yourself. also another indication is how much heartburn you have. since it is true that more heartburn= more hair, almost all babies with lots of hair have dark hair.. most blondes are bald when they are born.

Brown is dominate. You can bet on brown.

brown dominates blonde and both dominate ginger. If you had blonde hair and it has darkened you probably have two Blonde genes. The father also is most likely to have two blonde genes so your baby can only inherit blonde genes so will be blonde. Most bright blondes darken over the years as I suspect your child’s will.
If you are wondering about eyes – brown is most dominant, blue next and green last.

Well dark hair is more dominant, so your baby is MORE likely to have darker hair.
But since you’ve both had ginger hair, your baby could be somewhere in between too, having light or darker ginger hair.
The odds of your baby having blond hair is pretty slim. Your baby may be BORN with blond hair, but odds are that it will darken up later.
I have really dark brown hair, my husband is blond… and our daughter has light brown hair! Go figure!
Good Luck & Congrats~

Well, my husband and I are both blonde and our son is blonde. So, I am guessing that since you and your husband both have the same hair color that the baby’s hair will probably go from blonde to ginger like yours and your husband’s did.
