We bought one thing at 12 weeks as it was something when we were abroad we wanted but I was worried about buying anything else!! We bought the cot bed a couple of week before our 20w scan as was in the sales and didnt want to loose out on the bargain but kept it at my mums til the 20w scan. Once we had the scan and found out everything was ok we went crazy and bought loads now at 29w I am just getting the last little bits like nappies etc. Our nursery looks like a storeroom but once I start mat leave at 34w I plan to sort it all out. xxx

We had our first scan at 14 weeks and started buying after that, once we knew everything looked to be going well. Just got a steriliser and a pack of bottles and dummies at first, but then ended up buying the pram because it was exactly what we wanted and we found it at a great price.

I’m now nearly 25 weeks pregnant and we’ve got most of his things. Clothes (lots of clothes!), towels, bibs, burp cloths, muslin squares, more bottles and dummies, changing matt, bath and top ‘n’ til bowl, bouncing cradle, toy arch, moses basket and stand, car seat (matches the pram we bought earlier) and we’ve just ordered the in car seat base. We also have made a start on toiletries, got a huge value pack of wipes (nearly 400 in it) and lotions, talcs, shampoo’s, stuff like that.

I will get nappies and formula closer to the due date and as for high chair and cot, i’m waiting til he’s born cos he won’t use them til he’s about 5/6 months old anyway.

It’s really helped me just buying little bits at a time when i see a good deal or its exactly what we want. I really don’t feel like i’ve shelled out loads of money cos i’ve spread the cost sensibly.

I will keep buying things til he’s born though, thermometers, baby on board sign, sponges… just little stuff like that.

    Hope that helped!

    Hi,

I think my friend starting buying after 3 months she was pregnant. When she found out what gender the baby was she started buying more up until the baby is born. Even after that the buying never stops. It’s best to stock up on the major things you need like diapers etc, and baby crib shopping. You don’t want to wait until the last minute to rush rush buy everything. So it’s a gradual thing. I found a site where you can get coupons and discounts on most of baby stuff.

    Diapers.com discounts – http://www.coupon-lover.com/diapers-coupons
    Kmart deals – http://www.coupon-lover.com/kmart-coupons
    Target coupons – http://www.coupon-lover.com/target-coupons
Corner Stork Baby promotions – http://www.coupon-lover.com/corner-stork-baby-gifts-coupons

    Hope that helps,
    Elaine
