Where can I find free baby knitting patterns for beginners?

Question by rach_b_2003: Where can I obtain no cost baby knitting patterns for beginners?
Ive never ever knitted ahead of but would like to try and knit some baby cardigans and hats for my unborn child boy. Exactly where can I uncover cost-free on the internet infant patterns in the UK and also instructions on how to knit and how to recognize the patterns? thanks.

I would advise asking your nan or elderly neighbour. No-a single knits these days…. My nan taught me but my mum has no idea at all!!!

    However, as a suggestion, if you having knitted before, I’d recommend you start with something easier that baby clothes. Knitting is really very easy; the hard part is getting the gauge right (how tight/loose you knit) and shaping the armholes, etc.to make it fit right.

    I’d suggest you start on something easy that will let develop some consistent tension on the yarn and used to doing it. Try a small baby afgan. Then move to the baby cap which take some shaping and then the cardigan.

    click on knitting, then search for the patterns.

    If you sign up for their e-letter it contains links for free patterns, I seem to remember there being a teaching link too.

    http://www.knittinghelp.com is a great resource on how to learn knitting.

    http://www.lionbrand.com has wonderful, free patterns for babies, children, etc

    http://www.knittingpatterncentral is also free with tons of patterns.

    A local yarn store (LYS) would have classes if you want to pay someone for a hands on experience.

    I like Nici McNalley’s DVDs for learning. She’s got one for beginners and one coming out for intermediates.

    The dailyknitter.com website has lots of free patterns, divided into categories to make searching easy.
    I also frequent local library book sales where people have donated old craft magazines. Though not an on-line source, I have found these to be very helpful.
