Why does my baby have this period of being unsettled and vomiting at same time every night?
Question by midbat: Why does my child have this period of getting unsettled and vomiting at same time each and every evening?
My child is 11 days old. Exclusively breastfed. He has been suffering with a bit of trapped wind but Infacol seems to be helping that. But just about every evening, at the same time (among about 9pm and 1am) he is so unsettled. A lot of rounds of snacky feeds, winding, hiccoughs, changing and so on until he ultimately vomits (not posset), feeds once again and then settles back into 3 hourly feeds.
Anybody got any ideas please?

Could it be some thing you are in the habit of consuming or drinking every evening getting into your breast milk ? A G&T perhaps, glass of wine?

colic. call your docs office and just ask to speak to a nurse. They will help you over the phone. You can probably call the hospital if your doc has no after hours phone answering service

It sounds to me like evening colic. See the following link for more information. http://www.pollywogbaby.com/refluxandcolic/eveningfussinessandclusterfeedings.html
It could also be that your baby is sucking at your breast for comfort in the evening rather than for feeding – hence the vomiting possibly from over eating. You could try to introduce a soother/pacifier instead.
It could also be that your baby is cluster feeding to stock up for the night (babies grow more at night so by nature they need a bigger feed or need to feed more often in preparation for this.) Have you considered combination feeding and trying your baby with some formula? I would suggest trying a bottle of formula at 9pm.
Hope this helps.

I just asked a very similar question my babys 7 weeks old and since he was about a week old he cries and moans every evening between 7 and 10pm. he seems as though he is hungry but only has a small amount at a time then he finally vomits some of his feed up then it ends and hes quiet has his bottle and goes to sleep. so just to let you know your not alone ive trien infacol and colief and now gripe water but nothing has changed.
